ADVANTAGES OF A ONE-STOP SHOP

by Ara Nazarian, DDS, DICOI, Chief Clinical Officer

Today, more than ever, we make purchases based on three factors: efficiency, effectiveness and convenience. Think about how your shopping habits have changed in recent years, especially with companies like Amazon making it as easy a single click to buy virtually anything and have it delivered the next day.

Whether it’s groceries, an oil change or a beautiful new smile, people want a “one-stop shop” that makes it easy and quick to get what you want when you want it.

For those of us in dentistry, when patients present with a non-restorable tooth in need of extraction, they want us to remove it rather than refer them to a specialist. Even more important, they want the implant placed at the time of the extraction so that they can walk out of the office with a full smile and don’t need another surgical appointment. This scenario also shortens the time to the final crown — and, of course, all of the business stays in your practice.

In the example above, a patient presented to me with a non-restorable tooth, where the core and crown restoration had broken off at the gum line. After obtaining a CBCT and evaluating the area, we knew there was sufficient bone to place the dental implant with grafting immediately after the extraction.

Using the proprietary bull-nose auger tip of the Engage dental implant from OCO Biomedical, we were able to achieve excellent primary stability. The patient was thrilled she didn’t have to return for multiple appointments to place and restore the implant and entire process was streamlined.

Just like the one-click shopping at Amazon, we can provide the highest quality service under one roof, expanding our service offering while delivering added value to our patients.
